"Through my work running the day-to-day operations of the MicroMasters in Data, Economic, and Design of Policy at MIT, I’ve encountered many brilliant learners. Over the past three years that I have been working with this program, we have had over 60,000 enrollments. Amidst this extensive cohort, Amir's enthusiasm and intellect have stood out like few others.
What immediately stood out to me about Amir was his dedication, not only to the material, but also to helping his fellow learners. Amir’s intellectual curiosity, his insights, and his selfless attitude made him stand out on our course discussion forums, where learners can discuss the material and reach out to our teaching assistants (TAs) for help.
In turn, I offered Amir a role as a community TA three separate times across three of our courses: Designing and Running Randomized Evaluations, The Challenges of Global Poverty, and Foundations of Development Policy. Community TAs are selected based on both their understanding of the material as well as their helpful input and guidance in the discussion forums. Every course usually only has one or two community TAs. With many of our courses consistently reaching over 3,000 enrollments, community TAs play an invaluable role. Rarely does any learner serve as a community TA more than once, let alone three times, but I can confidently say that we would be delighted to have Amir serve as a Community TA for as long as he would like.
I also want to emphasize how strong Amir performs academically. Our courses are rigorous, emulating the difficulty of residential graduate-level courses at MIT. Our grades are curved such that the average scores on our proctored exams for those who pass are about 65% to 70%. Amir, across all five of the proctored exams taken, has averaged above a 96%. Considering the volume of our enrollments, this is an extraordinary feat.
Finally, working with Amir has been an absolute joy. His meticulousness and willingness to help others have always set him apart. His insights, not only into course content, but also pedagogy, have been a boon. I honestly cannot recommend him enough."
